The CLASS season opener took place at a new track - MSR in Texas. Instructor Jeff German and I drove out from Northern California in a van loaded with 3 instructor bikes, riding gear and my photo equipment. We left Angels Camp at 4.30pm on Wednesday and arrived at the track in Angleton, south of Houston at lunchtime on Friday.
We were all very impressed with the track - and the students who turned out for the event. The vast majority had never been on a track before - but you would never have guessed it by the way they handled themselves. There was a mix of everything from Harleys and Gold Wings to sportbikes, and we had a very enjoyable, incident-free day.
Jeff and I left Angleton at 4.45AM on Easter Sunday and decided to take advantage of relatively light Holiday traffic. Despite observing all speed limits, and multiple stops for fuel and meals, we covered nearly 1300 miles before arriving at our overnight stop in Southern California at 11.45PM the same night. On Tuesday we headed north, putting in another 700 miles before we arrived in Angels Camp around 4.30PM.
